# Preparation

The time synchronization architecture of the Ladybug 5+ has changed between its 2017 and 2023 firmware versions, so  make sure you have the latest firmware and software versions installed!

1. Download and install the latest Ladybug **Software** to your acquisition laptop. The software is available under "My Software Updates -> Ladybug Software" after logging in to <https://accounts.phoenixlidar.com>.
2. Download and extract the latest Ladybug **Firmware** on the same machine. The firmware is available under "My Software Updates -> Ladybug Firmware" after logging in to <https://accounts.phoenixlidar.com>.
3. Power the ladybug camera and connect its USB3 cable to your laptop. Then start "UpdatorGUI3" in your start menu. Select your camera, select the update file from step 2 and click update. Ensure a stable power supply to both camera and laptop during the update
