# Grid

The Grid dropdown list in the Project window allows the user to create a grid, or tiled stencil used to export lidar data into tiled files. This tool is handy for very large datasets covering a wide area, as it is generally preferred to have a number of smaller tiled files versus a massive individual exported file.&#x20;

## Creating a grid for tiled pointcloud export

* Click on the Grid dropdown list within the Project Window

* Specify Grid Stride and Units (size of tiles), then press ok&#x20;

* Optionally, you can edit the grid location by clicking on the grid name, selecting the configure tool (wrench), then specifying the grid shift for Northing and Easting directions

* After clicking OK, the grid will be shifted automatically
