# Measurements

The Measurements window allows you to perform various measurements on the active map layer. 

* Depending on which map layer is selected within the Project Window, points can be picked from the point cloud layer, the trajectory layer, or other additional map layers. 
* This can be used for plain [position measurements](https://docs.phoenixlidar.com/lidarmill-desktop/user-interface/windows/measurements-window/position), [distances](https://docs.phoenixlidar.com/lidarmill-desktop/user-interface/windows/measurements-window/path), [profile viewing](https://docs.phoenixlidar.com/lidarmill-desktop/post-processing/workflow-kk/data-review/profile-tool), flight planning, [camera calibration](https://docs.phoenixlidar.com/lidarmill-desktop/post-processing/workflow-kk/camera-snap) etc.
